Captain Larry McGuire
Offshore fishing is great out past 100 ft.
My parties are catching black, gag and red grouper, mangrove and American red snappers, cobia, kingfish, porgys, amberjacks, barracudas,Mahi mahi [dolphin fish] not Flipper and a variety of large sharks.Best action starts at about 125 ft using live baits. The larger red grouper are moving in to this depth and should continually improve as the summer progresses. On my half day trips closer in around 50 ft we are catching smoker kingfish, keeper gag grouper and lots of sharks.Nearshore Tarpon are thick around all the passes,Egmont key and the Skyway bridge.Pass crabs have been working great and you can dip up lots of those guys on the out going tide in the intercoastal waterway and the passes.
Back to offshore we had a trip recently where we were catching big amberjacks on a large ledge when about a 50 lb cobia swam up to the boat and my first mate was quick and put a live grunt by him ,he grabbed it then spit it out and circled it and then couldnt ressit it and ate it again. This cobia didnt relieze he was hooked up and gave very little fight until the gaff hit him.I already briefed everyone to stand clear when a green cobia comes aboard. We all scrammbled when this wild and crazy fish hit the deck thrashing violently. The party said they knew it was serious situation when the captain and first mate was running for cover. That was almost as much fun as wrestling large sharks for a photo before a release.
Now is the time to come out and get ya some of this hot action.

About Us!
Captain Larry McGuire is a native Floridian and has lived in Manatee County his whole life. He comes from a family of hard core fisherman. He started fishing at the early age of three, growing up fishing in the Tampa Bay, Manatee River, and on the flats in those areas. He first liked fishing for snook inshore in his younger years. Then later in life decided that off shore fishing was his real passion. He got hooked on fishing for Grouper, Snapper, and Amberjack. The extreme catches that really enticed him was catching Cobia, Kingfish, Permit, Black fin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Sharks, Tarpon, and even the occasional Sailfish. He fishes offshore from Tampa Bay to the Florida Keys. Thinking like the fish, having the instinct of what is going on, knowing where the fish are, and how they are biting at that time of year is the key to a successful Charter captain
Captain Larry is on the water constantly and says it is a must to try to the best of our ability to continually improve fishing techniques. "When fishing is tough, that is when I fish the best, making it happen for all my clients. I will make it happen when there seems to be no way! I love to help someone who is having difficulties, so that nobody out fishes someone else. I give specific instruction, all they have to do is take the information and use it, then they Show Me The Fish!"
Captain Larry takes out lots of families, women and children are very welcome, he helps the children, ladies, and men get their catch! If you are the type who wants to battle the biggest of the fish caught, he will get you on them. The captain is an avid photographer and sends catches to multiple media outlets. This means you could possibly get your fish, and picture in one of them. "If you don't have a picture of it - it must never have happened," says Larry.
Captain Larry has been a guest on the Reel Animal Fishing TV Show, with an outstanding Grouper catch with Captain Billy and Mike. They had all of the film footage for the show in a mere hour. His best fish story was the catch of an eight foot, three hundred pound Blue Marlin he caught 28 miles offshore of Anna Maria Island in 110 ft of water. With a leader touch using a live Bonita as bait that was caught on tape with the Game Fish Challenge TV show. That was an absolute a miracle, especially on a TV show; nobody would have believed it unless it was live on film, which it is!
The captain writes weekly fishing reports for the Bradenton Herald, The Islander, The Anna Maria Sun, Saltwater Angler magazine, Rods and Guns magazine, Florida Outdoor Adventures, and FishOrShutUp.com. Captain Larry also calls in weekly to local radio shows, Reel Animals, Florida Sportsman, ANA banana fishing show telling them what's hot and what's not and shares his fishing tips and secrets.
Larry has the eagerness to help everyone to catch fish. He even has fishing seminars and clinics for boaters! He is affiliated with Boater's World, West Marine, Turner Marine, Florida Sportsman, St Pete Boat Show and many more.
"Fishing is my heritage, in my blood, I can't help it, and it's beyond my control! I remember fishing with my Grandma (yes that's correct, my Grandma) when I was four years old, she fished from sun up to sun down, at that age I did not have the kind of patience to endure. These days I have plenty of perseverance," says Captain McGuire.
Captain Larry has a reputation of being a patient, enthusiastic, hard working guide. He is also very extreme, intense and a hardcore fisherman. He considers Grouper fishing a full contact sport. He will go above and beyond to Show YOU The Fish!!!!!
